My one year Voxiversary was on August 31. I'd even put a note on my calendar so I didn't forget about it. And then I forgot to check my calendar.
Happy Voxiversary to me! This year has been really crazy and I can't imagine what it would have been like without all of you there to support me. Here's a little rundown of what went down:
-I went from living in apartment with my fiance, to living in my own apartment, to living with roommates. What's next? The plan is to move back in my parents and make my regression complete.
-I broke up with my fiance for being emotionally abusive and having unrealistic expectations of me. We've remained friends, despite his rebound. I still miss the good times fairly often, but I have to keep reminding myself of why it didn't work out because it's one of those things I'm not sure could change.
-I met some really awesome people, including Molly, Travis (even though he moved halfway around the world) and of course Christina.
-I gradually grew to love my job less and less, until the love turned to like, and the like turned into tolerate, and the tolerate turned into a general dislike with moments of hatred.
-I went on a lot of dates. Most of them sucked, but a couple were pretty good. When I finally met someone I did like, I turned into a drunken idiot and ended up without a favorite pair of earrings. I am still in my earring-less state.
-I quit playing World of Warcraft and started up again several times.
-I realized I didn't know what direction I wanted my life to go in, except that more than anything I want to go home.
Molly likes to watch What Not to Wear.
Watching it, I decided I need a makeover. I don't need a whole new wardrobe (although some new shoes would be nice) but I'm going to get my hair cut, colored, and have my eyebrows waxed.
My hair is quite long right now, and I don't want to go shorter, but it hasn't been trimmed in forever and the ends are in poor shape. I think a bit more layering would be nice as well. Naturally I have dark blonde hair, and I don't want to go much darker in color, but I don't want to do the Hollywood platinum blonde thing, either, so I'm thinking redder, into a dark strawberry blonde.
I was figuring having the salon do the color, unless any of you think I'm wasting money not buying a couple boxes and having Lacey do it?
I have come to the conclusion that all the people I write about can be confusing. They confuse myself sometimes, so I've written up this informative list. It's in alphabetical order, which I decided would make more sense than "attractiveness" or "length of hair."
Addison - Best friend of Pike. Recently transplant of The City. He and I still friends, according to Addison, unless Pike and I force him to take sides. I, personally, would never do that.
Would play him in a film: Rainn Wilson. This is probably the best fit of anyone in this list, except perhaps Everett's.
Anna - My boss. Sometimes she's great. Most of the time I feel the need to get away. Fast. Mood status updated regularly.
Would play her in a film: Mandy Moore, who would have to gain quite a bit of weight first.
Cloudy - Me. Professional woman in her mid-twenties. A bit odd.
Would play her in a film: Janel Maloney
Corey - The owner of my company. Not to be confused with "The Company" that my company does tech support for.
Would play him in a film: Good question!
Cute Intern - Used to be an intern, who is cute in the "adorable, want to wrap-him-up-and-take-him-home" kind of way. Smiles a lot. Sadly I don't see him anymore because his internship ended and The Company was stupid enough not to hire him on full time.
Would play him in a film: An adorable newcomer that everyone would blog about how amazing he was.
Dan - A client of mine that I like to flirt with, but I can't tell if he's flirting back or just being friendly.
Would play him in a film: David Anders. His face looks different, but they both are blond with blue eyes, and no doubt that Anders could pull of Dan's accent.
Everett - A friend of mine that I was into before meeting Pike. Would probably agree to marry him if he asked.
Would play him in a film: Jack Black. No question.
Jon - Person I went on a date with. Kind of messed with my system. I don't write about him anymore.
Karen - One of my best friends from high school. We don't really talk anymore.
Would play her in a film: Ginnifer Goodwin.
Keith - The coworker formally known as Cougar-Meat. Completely hilarious young man who tends to date women about twenty years his senior, but currently has a girlfriend his age. Doesn't work in my office anymore, sadly. Anna cannot stand him.
Would play him in a film: Owen Wilson. A bit too old, but has the right sense of humor.
Lacey - My friend in The City.
Would play her in a film: Eva Amurri, another great fit. Eva would just have to make herself a bit curvier.
Luca - Friend of Pike's and mine who lives somewhere other than The City. Cute in the "sexy" kind of way. Beautiful hair.
Would play him in a film: Zachary Quinto, with longer hair than usual.
Molly - A new coworker who comes with a lot of experience. Anna loves her. Her fiance used to be roommates with Dan.
Would play her in a film: An unknown.
Noel - Client, cute in the "boy next door" kind of way. I rarely write about him, so I'm not really sure why he's listed here, but oh well.
Would play him in a film: Penn Badgley, if they didn't cut the character right out of the script entirely.
Other Intern - Just another intern. Doesn't work for The Company anymore. Long lost twin brother of Travis.*
Would play him in a film: Jack McBrayer
Pike - Ex. What a strange word that is. I've never had one of those before.
Would play him in a film: Jason Schwartzman with a shaved head.
Redhead Boy - Boy I went on a few dates with. The romance kind of petered out before anything could actually happen.
Would play him in a film: Eric Stoltz, an uncanny resemblance.
Travis - Used to be a client of mine, cute in the "I want half of your genetic markup in the DNA of my children" kind of way. Overly friendly. In a relationship. Lives in another country.
Would play him in a film: Michael Vartan, who isn't identical in looks (Vartan is a bit too skinny) but it would work.
I might be missing some people. If I don't write about them in here, it's probably because they made such a non-impact in my life I hardly found it worthwhile.
I would want Brian Dannelly as the director, since I'm pretty sure the movie would be an indie romantic comedy.
*I don't mean this literally.
